![]() Hopper doesn't tell Mike to take care of El at the end, he tells Mike that he should be careful, because he knows he can trust Mike. Think of this way: Season 3 is the one where they pay homage to the sitcoms of the time, the after school specials, and the "very special episodes." Everyone is slightly more exaggerated than usual, not just Hopper, and it makes the later scene at Starcourt much more emotional because they all realize exactly how petty they were. No need to comment your arguments/agreementsĮxactly. I dont understand why he is still a fan favourite despite all of this.Įdit: I made this post almost 2 months ago and have since lost interest in the topic especially since Hopper returned to normal in s4 We've seen Hopper getting violent in previous seasons but this felt completely unnecessary.Īll of these put together made Hopper go from my favourite character, to my least favourite, only 4 episodes into season 3. When he does not tell him anything, Jim resorts to police brutality and almost cutting his thumb off for the information. This felt really gross, as if she owed him her affection.Ī bit later, he goes to the town hall to get information out of the mayor. When he finds out she stood him up, he got way angrier than was justified, refused to listen to her reasoning and then accused her of being scared of a relationship with him, which, he literally specified it wasn't romantic. He later asks Joyce out and when she declines, he says it's "just as a friend". A cowardly dick move that the Hopper of season 1 and 2 would not do. ![]() In the beginning of season 3, we see that he's way too controlling over El and Mike's relationship, and instead of properly fixing it and taking Joyce's advice, he threatens Mike to lie to El, which ruins their relationship entirely. Instead of the likeable guy that he was in season 1 and 2, he becomes controlling, bad tempered, and even tortures the mayor for information. Season 3 is also pretty interesting but I do not like the route they went with Hopper. The first and second seasons were so interesting even after already knowing the plot. I'm rewatching stranger things in preparation for season 4, and I am absolutely hooked.
