![]() Hopper doesn't tell Mike to take care of El at the end, he tells Mike that he should be careful, because he knows he can trust Mike. Think of this way: Season 3 is the one where they pay homage to the sitcoms of the time, the after school specials, and the "very special episodes." Everyone is slightly more exaggerated than usual, not just Hopper, and it makes the later scene at Starcourt much more emotional because they all realize exactly how petty they were. No need to comment your arguments/agreementsĮxactly. I dont understand why he is still a fan favourite despite all of this.Įdit: I made this post almost 2 months ago and have since lost interest in the topic especially since Hopper returned to normal in s4 We've seen Hopper getting violent in previous seasons but this felt completely unnecessary.Īll of these put together made Hopper go from my favourite character, to my least favourite, only 4 episodes into season 3. When he does not tell him anything, Jim resorts to police brutality and almost cutting his thumb off for the information. This felt really gross, as if she owed him her affection.Ī bit later, he goes to the town hall to get information out of the mayor. When he finds out she stood him up, he got way angrier than was justified, refused to listen to her reasoning and then accused her of being scared of a relationship with him, which, he literally specified it wasn't romantic. He later asks Joyce out and when she declines, he says it's "just as a friend". A cowardly dick move that the Hopper of season 1 and 2 would not do. ![]() In the beginning of season 3, we see that he's way too controlling over El and Mike's relationship, and instead of properly fixing it and taking Joyce's advice, he threatens Mike to lie to El, which ruins their relationship entirely. Instead of the likeable guy that he was in season 1 and 2, he becomes controlling, bad tempered, and even tortures the mayor for information. Season 3 is also pretty interesting but I do not like the route they went with Hopper. The first and second seasons were so interesting even after already knowing the plot. I'm rewatching stranger things in preparation for season 4, and I am absolutely hooked. ![]() In his unrelenting commitment to CMB's success, Abrams would pass up countless opportunities to embark upon his solo career over the years. Enamored with the brotherhood and acceptance he found within his band at the time, Abrams declined the offer out of loyalty to the group's best interests. Before the group's signing with Giant Records executive Cassandra Mills, Abrams was privately offered a solo recording deal by late, legendary Uptown Records executive Andre Harrell. His ultimate dream of becoming a successful solo artist presented itself early on. In 1985, Abrams auditioned several singers and assembled the members of CMB, teaching them harmonies as the self-proclaimed "music nerd" in the group. After observing Vandross' weight loss transformation and receiving pressure from his potential bandmates, he became ablaze with a determination to slim down his look and achieve success in music. While academics were never his strong suit, Abrams poured his heart and soul into music from his early teens. As he sought mental refuge from bullying and insecurity surrounding his childhood struggles with obesity, he would obsessively study legendary performers such as Luther Vandross, Lionel Richie and the Commodores, Michael Jackson, Donny Hathaway, Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo. Losing his father to murder at the tender age of two years, and raised by a single mother, Abrams learned to survive, entertaining himself while watching iconic artists like Elvis Presley light up the television. Born on November 16, 1969, in his hometown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Abrams discovered the roots of his fighting spirit run as deep as his proud Choctaw Nation heritage. Having faced many public challenges including substance use disorders, a life-long battle with obesity and tensions within the group he founded, Abrams is painfully aware of the toll that being self-sacrificing can take on a person's mental health. The legendary R&B/pop vocalist, known around the globe for his sultry "blue tone," has rediscovered his will to live and reignited his passion for music. He has dedicated his life and musical artistry to raising addiction awareness and mental health care advocacy, focusing on issues affecting minorities, marginalized and underserved communities as well as philanthropy work. Having lived with addiction for over 25 years, Abrams has now put his focus on his mental and physical health, and is proudly in his fourth year of recovery. As a 30-year entertainment veteran, Abrams dedicated his entire professional career to songwriting, performing and recording as a founding member of the iconic, 90's group Color Me Badd. Since all of these objects are modeled on hinges, it all looks exactly like it should. Not only will cars show dents where they get hit, but repeated damage can rip off your bumpers, hood or even your doors. Realistic damage models expand on the effect. In addition to taking place in a realistic 3D world, Carmageddon 2 also boasts a top notch real-time physics engine that makes crashes, flips and rolls seem realistic enough to make your stomach churn. The entire game engine has been completely overhauled, and looks a hell of a lot better than before. This basic premise is really the only way in which Carmageddon and Carmageddon 2 are alike. ![]() Sound horrible? It is, but no matter how much I want to win a race, my runs always seem to break down into repeating runs through a crowded square trying to see how many folks I can kill at once. It's more than just mindless violence though, extra points can be earned through particularly creative slayings, or by killing more than one person at once. That's right, each human you can mow down will earn you credits that can be spent on improving the condition of your car. In order to earn money (or credits as the case may be) you'll have to run down as many pedestrians as you can. The good news about all of this pushing and shoving is that you can repair damage to your car at any time, the bad news is that repairs cost money. It's very difficult to get a good time when an angry trucker keeps trying to force your car off the side of a cliff. Every other car on the road is either barreling at full speed try to go for the win, or trying to earn their victory by destroying all of the other cars entered in the race. What makes Carmageddon different is that it's actually pretty difficult to make it to those checkpoints in the first place. Along the way you'll earn extra time by passing through various checkpoints and by collecting powerups. You jump in your car and race against a group of others through varying landscapes (mostly urban) in an attempt to be the first one to reach the finish line. But just viewed as a racing game, Carmageddon 2 offers cool concepts but unrefined execution. At its core, Carmageddon 2 is a lot like other arcade racing games. ![]() Today, we see so much gore in games that it has totally lost that edge over most players. You just have to demolish them in a race first to unlock one.Īt this point, it seems that Carmageddon 2 best serves as a memory of when game developers pushed the edge with violence. At least there are a variety of wacky looking cars to drive. The best solution to this problem is available in the GOG forums but is definitely an extra, annoying step. Well, they can, but you’ll find that it doesn’t allow you to re-bind keys to WASD. Cars are kind of tough to control and this is only increased by the fact that players can’t easily tweak their key bindings. To be fair, open worlds were very unusual to see in any racers of the time and only now do we really see it coming back into favor.Ĭontrols are where any racing game must show competence and it just doesn’t feel that way here. Also, stages are fairly open-ended meaning there’s a lot to explore beyond the exact track path. The last option might sound fun to some but is actually incredibly difficult considering they often number in the hundreds. You can either race the normal way (do a certain number of laps in time), demolish all competing racers’ cars, or kill every pedestrian on the stage. Races in Carmageddon 2 follow the same clear conditions of the original. For players who don’t want to slick the streets with human blood, there are also options to tone gore down or completely off. Three difficulty settings exist although even the easiest becomes harder later on. After a mission is completed the player can move onto the next grouping of races. This is done by completing at least one race in a specific group, then doing the correlated “mission” afterward. There are a great deal of races to participate in, but they must all be unlocked. But does that make Carmageddon 2 worth playing? The rest of the experience is, unfortunately, not nearly as memorable. And it certainly contains copious amounts of it. Reviewers seem to have nothing but praise for the lavish depictions of blood and gore. Looking over reviews of the game in 1998 it seems that gamble was for the best. Instead of fearing government or parents, Stainless Software thumbed their noses at opposition and created one of the bloodiest games of the year. ![]() By the time Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now came out, it received a definitive M for Mature. It is hard to believe what I endured when I could not endure myself you may be sure that the reason why Ulysses was shipwrecked on every possible occasion was not so much because the sea-god was angry with him from his birth he was simply subject to seasickness. What do you think my feelings were, scrambling over the rocks, searching out the path, or making one for myself? l understood that sailors have good reason to fear the land. I remembered my profession as a veteran devotee of cold water, and, clad as I was in my cloak, let myself down into the sea, just as a cold-water bather should. When we drew near, I did not wait for things to be done in accordance with Vergil’s orders, until Therefore I laid down the law to my pilot, forcing him to make for the shore, willy-nilly. But I was suffering too grievously to think of the danger, since a sluggish seasickness which brought no relief was racking me, the sort that upsets the liver without clearing it. I began to ask the pilot to put me ashore somewhere he replied that the coast was rough and a bad place to land, and that in a storm he feared a lee shore more than anything else. The storm had not yet begun, but the ground-swell was on, and the waves kept steadily coming faster. But when we were so far out that it made little difference to me whether I returned or kept on, the calm weather, which had enticed me, came to naught. So, in order to get away more quickly, I made straight out to sea for Nesis, with the purpose of cutting across all the inlets. Still, I thought that the few miles between Puteoli and your dear Parthenope might be run off in quick time, despite the uncertain and lowering sky. The contrast between a bright, uplifting and a dark, majestic space further exemplifies the full spectrum of nature and its beauty. Everything is bursting with life, color, and movement, portraying nature not just as a majestic entity, but also a spontaneous, uplifting sight to behold. She’s the sole character of the wide, free space that beholds beauty unlike any other. Moreover, the scenes of her running on endless hills, resting in a cave with fairy wings, or going through the dark woods with wolves seem like scenes cut from a fairy tale movie. Every scene is curated with care, even matching some of the lyrics - such as her antlers popping up right as it’s mentioned, or falling bits of snow joining a reference on Christmas. Both visual and audio elements correspond to express the same message: of the beauty and dreams behind nature and imagination. Specifically, I believe the most powerful aspect of this comeback is its storytelling ability. This detailed execution, coupled with YooA’s history in a group that shares a similar fantastical thread, has enabled this debut to be one-of-a-kind for her. Clearly, every part of the set has worked to achieve this outcome: from the production to the setting, camerawork to even choreography and styling. It’s this direction that has brought about a successful concept for the artist: curating something that only YooA can achieve. Considering this conceptual identity, then, came forth curiosity as to how Yooa would balance her group’s image alongside her own budding potential as a solo. ![]() Title tracks such as “Closer,” “Secret Garden,” “The fifth season,” and more have cemented a timeline of dreamy concepts that they’ve mastered by their fifth year and running. Up until now, OMG has maintained a high-quality, fairytale landscape that lent itself to a unique style in their discography, concepts, and even stage outfits. But, there’s no single way to make that work, which makes choosing a concept all the more difficult.Ģ020 has seen its fair share of female solo releases, with comebacks from Somi to Mamamoo’s Hwasa to Taeyeon spread throughout the year. Not to say that a solo is only successful if drawn from the pre-defined ideas of one’s group - there’s endless potential with how an idol can achieve positive recognition in both positions at once. A solo release can either amplify both the group and the specific member, or it can cause jarring juxtaposition that leaves little to define how s/he can find their own conceptual foundation. Luckily, it only lasts a few turns - but it can still be an unpleasant surprise to someone used to more traditional roguelikes, a genre where most games religiously observe Critical Existence Failure. Every time the marine takes damage it adds a stacking debuff to accuracy, which can quickly lead into a death spiral as the player can't fire back or reliably escape without taking massive damage, especially in the case of beefy melee enemies.
